AKC and ACA are two different purebred registries. Some people who are looking for simply a pet will not care about the difference, although for many AKC is considered more prestigeous. It has been around much longer, and is more particular about registration. However, for someone who wants to show their dog, AKC would be a must.
While AKC will only register if both parents are AKC, ACA will accept the AKC registration of your female. You will need to provide a copy of the AKC registration to ACA to register your puppies ACA. The puppies are only eligible for ACA, not AKC.
