I've been able to find cheaper cuts of meat or sales quite easily. Like 4-5 turkey wings (pre-butchered is nice) for under $3. Each one is a meal and I feed SoCo twice a day, sometimes less if he's not hungry. We were also able to buy 4 good sized chickens for $18 on November 23rd. We JUST finished the 1st 2 chickens today (though about 3-6 meals since the 23rd were not chicken).
