Many times, vets mistake liver shunt for hypoglycemia because the symptoms are so similar. Also, liver shunt/MVD dogs can't store glucose properly, so they also need frequent small meals.
With liver shunt, depending on the severity, there have been many dogs who die as young pups simply because the owners don't know the pup has it...
Bile acid testing is very, very important. I would have London bile acid tested specifically because regular bloodwork won't show abnormalities in the liver until the liver is already 70% damaged. Bile acid testing is specifically to check liver function.
