I'm chicken too!! I've been putting this off since last summer because I'm scared of the needle. But you know what? If I can get a tattoo (which is hundreds of little needle pricks) then I can get 1 damn prick for a belly ring! I've just got to close my eyes - I can't "see" the needle or else I'll flip out!
