I tried to walk my puppy for the first time on a leash today. He really did not take to it! I pretty much dragged him the entire time ( about 20 min.) and then gave up and carried him the rest of the way (not good I know). He had a harness on, so I lifted straight up on the harness to try and encourage him to stand up and walk. His front feet were barely touching the ground and his back feet were dragging as he was in a sitting position (don't worry he was on grass, not concrete). I know he wasn't tired b/c he had just finished his nap and was bursting with energy. He will follow me around the back yard with or without a leash on, but the minite I pick it up, he plops down and refuses to walk. Should I just keep walking him until he gives in and decides to walk with me or will that make him hate the leash? What do you guys think I should do?
