I think you should start right away. That way when she gets her adult teeth she will by used to the routine and compliant. When I first started, I would put doggie toothpast on a tiny toothbrush and let Bijou lick it and chew on it. She liked the taste of the toothpaste so she looked forward to it each time. I slowly began to control the situation by manipulating the toothbrush against her teeth. At first I didn't get really serious about getting every tooth surface, but concentrated on getting her used to the brush. Now I can take my time and get her teeth really clean because she thinks nothing of it. It takes hardly any time and she has nice breath and nice fresh doggie kisses.
