Fire the standard questions at her. If she's been researching for years, she should be able to answer them regardless. You can't hold it against her if she's just starting, we all start somewhere. Try to bring up any questions in conversation. IE, "You looked that long for the right breeding pair...what characteristics were you most concerned with?" or "In your search, what were some of the things that turned you off of potential stock?" And don't accept a general answer...ask for specifics.
Any breeder should be glad to answer any questions you have for them and should have plenty for you in return. If that doesn't seem to be the case, I would be wary. |
