no, some dogs do like to talk back when your scolding them. if this happens i usually put them in a time out because the situation usually gets out of hand and the dog then thinks its a game. You yell at the dog, the dog "yells" back at you, you get frustrated that the dog isn't listening so you yell more and the dog 'yells'. then the dog just thinks your play so he'll yell and run around or play keep away. So before it escalates i usually do a 5 minute time out for the pup.
