I suggest Petfinder.com, too. You can type in the breed your interested in and what area you live in. They provide names of local shelters and pictures of available babies.....purebred and mixed. Most are in foster care and their foster parents are usually very happy to discuss their personalities and behavior and terms for adoption. I think it's a great idea. I'm on a limited income and if I'm ever in need of another dog, that's the route I'm going!!!! Good Luck in finding a companion!
