I am not going to go over the"why they weren't separated", etc. etc. I am sure you are aware of all of that. I will say, please work closely with your vet. 8 months is extremely young and if you were not planning to breed her, you may want to talk to your vet about spaying her now. Yes, if she is pregnant it will abort the babies. And I can understand how some people would have objections to that. But it also could kill your baby having puppies this young. How much does she weigh? How much does your 3 year old weigh? If he is bigger than her, she may to have a c-section to have the puppies. It is not an ideal situation to be in. With close care by your vet she may be able to have them, but I have to warn you it may be very risky. By the way, how long ago did her heat start? Is she receptive to him? Just in case she may not be pregnant, I would do everything possible to keep them seperate. I really hope she isn't pregnant, and I am sure you do too. I wish I could help more, but all I can say is to work very closely with your vet if she is.
Good luck.
Sonya
