Confused How young is too young to be fixed?

I want my little boy to be fixed before he ever realizes he is a boy. I've heard of pups being fixed as young as 6 wks by the human society. My vet really wants me to wait til 5 or 6 mnths but she says it's because she wants him to develop boy behaviors like lifting his leg to pee. I on the other do not. She's worried he'd be embarrased about peeing like a girl, but he doesn't he stands up to pee and just thrusts his hips forward. I don't want him to mark our house (which his daddy did). I don't want him to ever start this behavior in the fear that even after he's fixed he still will. Size is not a problem he's already 5 lbs at 10 weeks.
