we've had show and agility clients ask us NOT to shave for a fracture repair or knee surgery because they don't want to wait for the hair to grow back. they're crazy. they rather have the beautiful hair instead of a sterile surgery field with great risk of infection or worse outcomes. |
yikes! I guess that makes sense, didnt think about the hair harboring the bacteria. If they shaved the tail, would they shave the WHOLE thing or just the area of the cut? Most likely I wouldnt have the tail doc'd, Id have to think about it. I would prefer to start showing with a puppy I raised anyway, but If I did have it done, I would prefer the dogs health over me being impatient.
