Are you specifically having a problem w/ getting the little guy to eat? The food you feed should be what the pup was eating at the breeder's--the pup should have been steady on 'normal' food before being placed. 8 weeks is far too young for a pup to be sent home--reputable breeders won't place them until they are older...12 weeks is the average, most agreed upon age. But as they say, "Hindsight's 20/20."
Find out what the pup was eating before and continue with that for now until he has adjusted. Make sure the pup is eating enough at several intervals throughout the day and most importantly, at this stage, do NOT leave him alone for long periods of time.
