Sounds like you have good advice from the posters here. But, don't give up on housebreaking. My Molly spent a lot of her first two years with my grown children as I was in and out of the hospital. When I finally got her back I realized she was just confused because we weren't 100% consistent, so I started over. I resisted using a crate at first, but it does work beautifully! It keeps them from having accidents and only having good behaviors to praise and reward. She adores her crate. It's a small cage with a cushy pad in it, not a traveling crate (which she also loves). She was 100% trained in just a couple months. Let me know if you want details on how I did it.
