I solved the barking problem "during the night" by keeping the curtains shut in my bedroom, and having ocean sounds playing on my sound machine. Believe me, Maggie
sleeps like a rock through the night now.
During the day if they bark and I don't want to hear it, I just touch their neck and say "shush", firmly. It's working for us.
