What about just ignoring her and reassuring him in front of her. Let her see that it is OK to hug him. I was taught if a dog is scared of something to ignore the behavior...don't cuddle or even pet cause it says to them "I knew it, it's a big bad bear"....in fact do just the opposite, dance sing and be all happy. They follow your lead. Check on him and walk away.

I hope this doesn't sound cold, cause that is not my intent.
