| DINNER- Saturday night, June 21st, we will be having dinner at the hotel. - We will have 2 entrée options available for you – BBQ (KC is known for good BBQ) and Vegetarian. Please note which entrée you’d like when you pay. Once payment is received, you have until June 1st to make any changes to your entree selections. Your choices are: BBQ Buffet Smoked Brisket of Beef served sliced Chef’s Famous BBQ Chicken Seasoned and Grilled Rustic Vegetables to include: Portabella Mushrooms, Eggplant, Squash, Peppers, Carrots, Potatoes Coleslaw Baked Beans Garden Salad with 2 dressings Assorted Breads and Rolls Pickles Appropriate Condiments Fruit Cobbler Iced Tea, Coffee, and Water Vegetarian Eggplant Parmesan with Classic Marinara Sauce Buttered Fettuccini and Roasted Red Peppers Garden Salad Dinner Rolls and Creamy Butter Chef’s Choice of Dessert Iced Tea, Coffee, and Water
- We opted to not have a cash bar available at dinner in order to keep the registration fee as low as possible, but I’m told the hotel bar isn’t too far from the ballroom for those interested in beverages other than iced tea, coffee, and water. PAYMENT- Please send your registration fee as soon as you know you’ll be attending, as dinner space is limited to 200 guests, and since I’m hoping we sell out, dinner will be on a first come, first served basis. All dinner registration fees not paid in full by April 15 will not be guaranteed a goodie bag, so get your money in as early as possible. You can pay with PayPal (yorkietalkmeetup@yahoo.com), check, or money order. Please PM me for details if interested in paying with check or money order.
- Be sure to include a note in the PayPal “message to recipient” box stating: 1. Your YT user ID, 2. Which registration fee you are paying (with or without dinner), 3. How many people you are paying registration fees for, 4. Each person’s “real” name(s), 5. Each person’s selected dinner entrée (BBQ or vegetarian) if applicable, 6. The name of the Yorkie(s) you’ll be bringing with you (if you know at this point), 7. How many raffle tickets you’re pay for (if applicable), and 8. If you are bringing an X-Pen (see note in “Miscellaneous” section below).
SCHEDULE- The schedule is tentative at this point, but these are the general time frames we have in mind for the meet-up. Of course, the vendors can open or close as they choose throughout the day, but I’m planning on the main hours being 8:00 am – 5:00 pm.
- The schedule for each day includes: Friday, June 20th – Meet at local park as people trickle into town on Friday (see note in “Miscellaneous” section below). Time TBD. Saturday, June 21st –8:00 am – Continental breakfast & vending tables open
10:00 am – Official YT Introductions/Welcome 11:00 am – Speaker 1 12:00 – 1:00 pm – Vending closes for lunch (optional) 2:00 pm – Speaker 2 5:00 pm – Vending tables close 7:00 pm – Dinner & Raffle Sunday, June 22nd –8:00 am – Continental breakfast & good-byes
TRANSPORTATION- For those driving to the meet-up, you can Mapquest directions to the hotel. The address is: One East 45th Street Kansas City, MO 64111 United States
- For those flying to the meet-up, you will need to fly into MCI (Kansas City International) and take a shuttle or taxi from the airport to the hotel (or rent a car if you’d prefer). I have spoken to SuperShuttle (www.supershuttle.com) regarding our meet-up, and they are looking into our options to see if we can put some sort of a group rate together for everyone flying in. Because we will all be arriving at different times, we may not be able to work this out, but I will let you know as I find out more. For now, plan on doing the shuttle on your own, and budget $18.00 each way for SuperShuttle’s shared van ride option (you would be in the van with up to 9 other people). I recommend making reservations in advance, but this is NOT something you need to worry about booking now. I use SuperShuttle all the time to/from LAX, and as long as you’ve made your reservation about 24-hours in advance, that’s plenty of time. SO…please don’t worry about this now and just keep an eye on this thread as I find out more about a possible group rate. For those preferring a taxi, I have no idea how much money to tell you to budget for. - Once you get to the hotel, the hotel offers a free shuttle within 2 miles of the hotel. We will make sure the hotel shuttle driver knows where we’re meeting on Friday and my hotel contact has agreed to transport all our members and their dogs to the park on Friday so you don’t have to worry about getting there. They will also take you anywhere else you want/need to go within 2 miles of the hotel during your entire stay there! |
