kalina82 ... the only thing I know for certain is that his little right leg is broken & it broke two bones. I will know more details on Monday. Unfortunately, we do know the follow-up that will be required. We would really like to give him back by Christmas eve but everything hinges on what we learn from the vet. Because of the care involved, he may need to stay in foster longer than that ... we will just have to follow the vet's instructions on the timeline.
two bones? so its a front leg that's broken? its probably his radius and ulna then. its a pretty common break. The Chi that i was fostering broke these bones. She had a really old fracture as well (older then your guy). The surgeon i work for fixed her leg with a plate and screws and then she was confined to a crate for two months. With an old fracture you really really really need to be strict with the confinement if you want them to heal properly. With this fracture there is usually a bandage on for 4-6 weeks as well, and these need to be changed every 1-2 weeks.

like i said, i work for a veterinary orthopedic surgeon so if you have ANY questions let me know and ill try to help you out. i see broken bones every day.
