When you say that you had scolded him for peeing in the house, did you do the scolding right after you got home? Had he peed while you were gone and then when you got home, you scolded him? If so, you can't discipline the dog after the fact as they won't correlate you getting on to them with the peeing in the house. You can only discipline them if you catch them in the act. Instead of him correlating the scolding to peeing in the house, he correlated the scolding to you coming home.
