Glad to hear that Maximus is doing so well. If he is pretty much acting like himself, I wouldn't worry to much about pain meds. He may not even need them.
When Annie got spayed our vet didn't even give us any, and the next day she was pretty much back to her usual antics and didn't even seem to be in any pain where she would have needed them. So maybe just play it by ear.
Sounds by the look of it, he may not even need it tomorrow!
