Thanks! My vet says the same thing..1 year...but then goes on to say "And Science diet is great!". Which make me think she may not be as tuned into things as I'd like.Where I get confused is when so many people feed RAW diets...which are pretty high in protein...to their puppies. I looked the nutritional breakdowns on that really wonderful dogfood anaylisis website that is on the sticky trying to figure out what makes puppy food, puppy food vs. dogfood. In some cases, it really seems to be marketing (very similar ratios for nutritional value within the same brand line) or the size of the kibble. And some brands (like Artemis) say for all stages. And the ratios between protein and fiber vary so much between brands (like Chicken Soup dry for puppies, vs the Innova dry for puppies). The more I read, the more in circles my brain goes.
So..still confused about what makes something Puppy vs. Dog.
I'd just feed her the puppy version and be done with it, except it apparently tastes different and she snubs it! Yorkies seem to be so particular with these things! And she's taking me right along for the ride. If anyone had told me 6 months ago I'd be concerned with protein ratios in dogfood I would have laughed at them! |
