Well, I have tried to not discipline with the paper. I have had so many people tell me that you need to discipline dogs just like you have to discipline children. They have to learn!! I show him the poop, swat him(not hard), tell him "no", take him to his pad and say "potty on your pad". The newspaper does not hurt him!! I do not want to shut him in a kennel or have to leave him in a small area. I think that is cruel! Especially since he is peeing on the pads, he knows they are for pottying!! I am just so worried that he may not catch on to pooping on the pad. I have tried so many ways to stop him and none have worked. The newspaper is the last resort. He even has used the pad for pooping once or twice since he started this bad habit. But mostly,he does not!
