As long as the pup is eating well (in intervals, not just once or even twice per day) and getting plenty of rest, it's not necessary. Just make sure that your new little one has a calm environment (no excessive visitors, turmoil or immediate 'fun' outings) and monitor him/her closely during this initial adjustment period.
