 I have the plug in...
I have the plug in heated pad and i just stow it under his bed... it is great !!!! it has a controled temperature of 85 degrees only , so it is always just "warm" never gets too hot. This is an old house and it is drafty in the winter... he has 2 beds and when he does not need the "extra " heat he goes to the other bed. The cord on the pad is protected by a "chewing" proof metal coil... for protection ...and i plugg it on the outlet that has surge protection as well... i feel it is pretty safe... on my experience it is a great thing to have....
