I know how hard it is, but hopefully it will all work out. When my husband had his cancer surgery last year he also had a massive heart attack while still in recovery. A few days later he was "terminated" from his job of 18 years!! I guess they were afraid he would become a liability to them. Well, he is recovered now and doing great. He has a new/better job!! At the time I thought it couldn't get any worse. So, hang in there. Things will get better.
