I've had that happen too. Ends up being a dead mouse!
And with 2 kittys and all my doggys you'd think mice would stay way clear!
Whats worse is we had pin pointed into the closet in the entry way - gutted it - and STILL couldn't find it! The smell was horribe for a LONG time!

I woke up to a stinky smell in my house. I can't find what is making the smell anywhere, but let me tell you, it smells like something died!  YUCK! It is gagging me.
Other than that, the morning has gone by pretty smoothly. That is AMAZING. Usually mornings are very chaotic around here - well, until the kids get to school anyway.
