I don't know how far Modesto is from Sacramento, but there is a pet hotel here called Wags Hotel. Rates depend on the size room you want your dog to stay in, and if you want your dog to have its own room, or have a roommate. They also take your dog to group play dates a couple times during the day. I've heard some positive things about them and would definitely take Belle & Ariel there if I ever go out of town and can't bring them along.
