i was told at the vets office that there are no nerve endings in the ears to hurt them when you pull it out. i was afraid to do it my self so i took buckeye in to the vet to have it done. they yanked out fingers full of hair and buckeye didn't flinch. then they charged me $7.00. so i do it my self now
