Pita is going into her first heat cycle, she is very tired, her nipples are swollen as well as her privates, she has a tiny amount of blood occasionally but nothing too bad.

How bad does the bleeding get? How long do you think the heat will last, I read 3 weeks but is that true in our little dogs? Pita weighs 4 pounds and is 9 months old, my vet wouldn't fix her until she was 10 months so we are going thro at least one heat, now I'm not sure I absolutely want to close the door on breeding her as she is so perfect. Anyway...

How inconvenient do all of you find the heat cycles? What have you experienced as far as changes in your babies when they have them?
