on crate training - best route to go, they come to think of that as their own space. For some people that continues to be the best route even when they are older. Instead, I use a baby gate to secure my yorkies in the kitchen - they have more room that way to move around & they can use the pad if I'm gone too long for their bladders - although that rarely happens
