Awww, she sounds positively ADORABLE! Ya know, Wylie went through a stage where he did that - and it seemed he wanted acknowledgement that he "had a kill" (LOL) and also wanted to find good places for burial.
So, when he'd come up to me, I'd say "oh my, whatcha got? look at THAT. Wow. Do you have your bone?" - and I'd sometimes try to touch the toy in his mouth just to make sure he wasn't using his "posession" as a dominance thing. The little whines seemed to go away (can't remember when) - but he still LOVES it if he has a bone in his mouth and I make a big deal out of it - he'll bring his bone close to my face just to hear me say "whatcha got".
It almost seemed like a stage he had to go through. Do you think she wants you to play with it or something, maybe? Does she ever actually hide it and then go back and get it? I wonder if she wants you to try and "get it" from her..?
