Luckily, my room is off of my kitchen, so this is what we do with Parker boy while we are gone (and home). They say its good to not give them free roam for many reasons when they are little. Don't get me wrong Parker comes in the living room with me, but only when I go with him and can monitor what he is doing. I guess a question you need to ask yourself is how are you going to train your new little guy. If you do potty pads (thats what we do) then I think its a great idea. A lot of people crate train (I don't know much about that) so in my opinion yes.
