From my personal experience buying Suzy, the breeder knew that she was coming to a good home because Suzy's mother jumped up into my arms and apparently she
never does that for anyone apart from the breeder, not even the rest of her family. So that sealed the deal for her. Because her dogs loved me she let me take one. Oh and we'd had about 10+ phone calls and emails talking about them, each phone call lasted for 15 minutes plus.
I guess that's one way of figuring it out, dogs are great judges of character.
