I'd crate them side by side so you can tell which one has the problem and stay home til I knew if it was a problem, or false alarm.

If you can't stay - take them to the vet and have them babysit for the day and they should check them frequently to see which one has the problem. One day's kenneling can save a lot of grief.

Check all over for red paper, newsprint etc.
