I agree with MyFairLacy. Two - three times a day for an adult and three - four for a puppy. I feed 3x a day because Ellie gets hungry midday and can't wait til night and since it is homecooked she would have to eat too much at one time if it was only given in two meals.
Free feeding is fine as long as your dog knows when to stop eating.
