Hmmm...I'm surprised he had this strong of a reaction since you stayed within brand lines. It doesn't sound like diarrhea, so I wouldn't stop the food. It is just mushy, right?
If that's the case, stick with it since you've already started the transition - you could add some canned pumpkin to the kibble (this helps w/ either constipation or diarrhea) and/or yogurt. He should firm up within a day or so unless something else is going on OR unless he is allergic to something in the food. You could also add some boiled chicken or whitefish (fish would be best) to the kibble -or- alternate the kibble meals w/ a homecooked meal. Hang in there, it'll be okay!
If it does head toward actual diarrhea, then you'll need to make a choice as to whether this food is a good one for him.
