You can go to Download.Com to find some free software or trial software. This is a reputable site. I am not affiliated with this site, but I do use it to find free software.
If you don't already have it, you need to install Ad-Aware and Spybot software. We use it at work and it protects you against sites placing spyware on your computer without your knowledge. I run it once a month or so depending on how many sites or software I've downloaded.
