As Lara said, don't give your doggie anything too big as they can break their teeth. Mum's Jack Russell broke one of her teeth on a dense bone (she dug it up out of the backyard, my long deceased German Shepherd buried it at least 10 years before) and it has caused nothing but problems.

I've been giving Suzy brisket bones from the butcher for the past month or so and she hasn't had any problems with them, she's 5 months old next week. Just be sure to get the butcher to cut them long and skinny so there's no chance of her swallowing them.

Failing that, chicken necks are a good option but Suzy eats them a little too quickly for my liking so I cut them up into chunks for her and she chews them like that.
