Well, my Wylie (3 year old) had his patellas graded today and they are graded a "high 2, possibly 3" - and surgery is eventually recommended. I was quoted around 3k for doing both knees at the same time.

If surgery is truly needed, then we'll do it. But, what bothers me is that he has never shown a single, solitary sign that his knees bother him. So, how do I come to terms with putting him through a horrible surgical experience, if he shows no signs that his knees are bad? Is it best to wait UNTIL they NEED to be fixed, or best to do it before anything bothers him? He runs, fetches like crazy, jumps etc. - with no indication that his knees are failing him, so this is really tough...

If anyone has saved some good, information-rich threads on LP surgery - when to do it, costs, pros/cons, advice - it'd be greatly appreciated.
