I added Cali at 9 weeks and had an 8 year old Pom. My pom was pretty territorial and not much for interacting with us, but she accepted Cali with no problems and Cali pretty much left her alone, preferring to be with us. Then when Cali was 1 1/2 years old I brought in Pixie who was 13 months at the time and a real spitfire. Pixie had been raised with other adult yorkies at the breeders in a large pen. SO Pixie was very much attuned to other dogs and play fighing. SHe fell in love with my Pom who was 12 lbs and is attached to her side or front literally all the time. Maya has become much more friendly since adding Pixie and even though she is in bad health seems so much happier with Pixie around. Cali my other Yorkie was pretty upset for a month or so and would hang out a lot with my dtr, still does. But Pixie picks on her all the time and Cali goes back for more when I stop her so I think that is there way of playing. So I have been very happy with each additional one I have added, and would add another If i could afford to. I think most times it works out and you just have to give them time. Also trying to make sure you don't get to alpha dogs helps. I say go for it
