I don't think he'll be too big. Lady is close to eight pounds and fits nicely in a larger carrier. Of course, it's obvious you have a dog carrier when they are that size. No sneaking them in places in a tiny purse-like carrier like you can with the tinier ones.
Another alternative for the larger dogs is a stroller. I'm hoping Santa Claus drops off a pink one at my house this Christmas!
