The end of the story is thank God he is okay but I had the worst morning of my life today. My daughter was on the computer and had Spike and Sugar on the seat behind her back. She isn't supposed to do that and trust me, she learned her lesson. Sugar fell off and apparently landed on his head on the tile floor. He couldn't walk straight and his head was hanging crooked to the side. We rushed him to the vet and by the time we got there he was starting to hold his head better but still couldn't walk straight and just seemed out of it. His vitals were all good and he was steadily improving and becoming responsive. By the time we left he was walking fine and was eating bits of a dog cookie and giving me kisses. The vet said with his vitals so strong and his steady improvement that he wasn't worried about internal bleeding and he felt sure he was going to be fine. They gave him a steroid shot in case there was any internal swelling.
This happened right as I was waking up. I hadn't even brushed my teeth yet. Trust me, I was quite a sight at the vet's office- crying and telling him how much mommy loves Sugar and about the green beans and chicken he was going to get and promising ice cream, and more crying. I'm sure I looked like a complete lunatic.

He is fine now as far as walking and responding. I fed him french fries which I never do but he deserved them and I'm just so happy to see the appetite. He just wants me to hold him but if I put him down he'll jump on my leg and wag his tail. I have never been so happy to see a tail wag.
It is so scary how quick a freak accident can happen.
