RE: delicate Yorkie belly Our Yorkie had some bad belly issues when he was less than a year old; our vet recommended that we feed him wet "W/D" dog food (yes, the kind you have to buy at special stores) in the morning as his breakfast--it had the effect of "binding" and his belly problems went away. We still feed him the wet W/D each morning (admittedly warmed up in the microwave and then smushed on a plate for him) and then dry food in the evening, and his belly is just fine. Every once in a while he'll have a little problem again and we give him cottage cheese with his dry food, then the problem goes away.
But belly problems with these wee ones are scary. Once, we called the emergency vet hotline to ask whether we should bring him in when he had a problem, and the vet said "it's up to you, but the little ones go downhill fast." (!) So, of course, we took him in. Turned out he just had gas. Better safe than sorry, I guess.
