I'm leaving on the 18th and will be gone until Jan 2 as well- visiting Disney World, VA and central PA.

BUT- I'm still going all out!

I'm putting up TWO trees and some other things.

Maybe you could buy a new fake tree? Trees today are so easy to put up since they are normally only a few pieces.
