The experts say to introduce your dogs to each other on "neutral" territory such as a park, where neither views the territory as theirs. However I have had many foster pups and have always just brought them home and thrown them to the "pack" and everything has been fine.
I would definitely use either a crate or xpen with the new pup while you are gone. with an xpen it will give her enough room to have her potty pads in one area, and still plenty of room to play. With my guy I just use a crate because i didn't want to train him with potty pads and he is good about holding it, provided I'm not gone too long.
As far as feeding, I've never allowed free feeding. Laney gets her food in the morning after her walk, and she gobbles it all up. Slade is walked, then gets his food in his crate.
Congrats on the new addition! |
