he's just cleaning his territory. This behavior is most common in females.
There are a couple things you can try
1) pick up the poop right away, eventually they forget they liked to eat it and stop trying to go after it.
2)purchase deter or forbid from your vet. tastes good going in the first time but terrible the second time
3) meat tenderizer on their food (same idea as above)
4) put hot sauce on their poop before they get to it to make the poop taste bad.
