Potty Training.... Bella was pee pad trained as a pup and did very well with that with few mistakes. We moved a couple months ago and now have a fenced in yard so decided to get rid of the pee pads but things are not going so well. She will be one year old on sunday. We have 3 floors in our home and try to keep her confined to the first one as she will have accidents upstairs otherwise. We take her out frequently and when we think she needs to go. If she has to and she's outside she will go usually. The problem is she doesn't usually do anything to signal for us to get her out when she needs to go. Instead she just goes over by the door and goes. Other times we will take her out and she is always so distracted that she won't go and then when we come in 2 minutes later she goes inside by the door again. When she goes on the floor, right away we show her it and tell her no and then put her outside and say potty outside. Thank goodness for tile floors. What can I do? Also if we are upstairs while she is downstairs she will just go and sometimes I think she does that because she's mad that we leave her down there sometimes. What should I be doing differently? I know the move was a big change too. She also got spayed a couple weeks ago so I'm not sure if she is just stressed out too or what. We praise the heck out of her and give treats when she goes outside. I've never had a problem potty training a dog for outside before. What are your suggestions?
