This has special "teeth" that strip out the loose undercoat, which is what sheds. (Doesn't hurt them at all, they actually like it now that they are used to being brushed) The first time I used it--you should have seen the hair! I could have knitted a sweater.
I feel this really helps with shedding; I would estimated that my dogs shed about 70% less now. When I first got it, I used it on them every 3 days for about 2 weeks. And now I use it once a week. It is a little pricey (seems like around $30 maybe) but for me it is well worth it.
Furminator also has a shedding shampoo to be used along with it, but I haven't tried that. |
Thank you so much! I'll be ordering one soon if I can't find one locally. I was going to get a ZoomGroom they are flexible rubber with larger rubber teeth that I saw on a Pug site, may still get one as it looks like it would be good for bath time too. I didn't realize how thick their coats are until I bathed him.
