Default boys

Okay, so I know similar threads have been posted, but I need reassurance from you ladies. I'm about to get a male puppy, he is so sweet and cute and I'm really excited! However I have only ever owned male dogs ( 2- one growing up and one 4 years ago, he ran away and I never could find him
I have had pretty bad experiences with both. The first one was a poodle terrier mix my family had when I was little, he was aggressive, peed on my bed often and bit me when he was older. The second dog was a silky terrier that was sweet at first but became aggressive, started running away, humping, nipping, and GASP..masturbating Anyway, Iv'e realized in recent years that most if not all of this was my fault. First off, both these males were intact and second they were rarely exercised. If I get another pup I plan on lots of walks and spaying or nuetering ASAP. My vet will do it at 6 months. So, my question is how likely do you think it will be to have these same types of problems with a male if he gets fixed and exercised? Should I just get a female? Sorry, I know similar threads have been recently posted. Thank so much.
