Miss Ellie was spayed a few weeks ago. If Chloe comes home that night she will be very tired and may not want to move. Ellie couldn't stand til the next morning. She had her surgery at about 3pm and didn't pee at home til the next morning. She didn't want to eat til 1AM. The next day she was very interested in food but still very out of it. It took about a week or 10 days til she was back to normal but she did pretty well after a couple days.
I would highly recommend getting a baby onesie for Chloe, so she doesn't have to wear an e-collar. These work for the majority of dogs but sometimes they still get to their stitches so you might have to resort to the collar.
Make sure the vet gives pain meds. Ellie was in extreme pain that night and there is no way that she was going to go without them.
Ellie's incision was closed with staples and that was no fun. It is a faster way to get out of surgery but stitches seem like a better choice. Two of Ellie's staples got twisted and that was not a good thing at all.
